About the artist…
Well I would have to say that I came from a talented family. My dad is a metal fabricator and my mom was always into crafts as I was growing up. I started drawing at a young age and developed my art skills and honed them through art schools. I started experimenting with mixed media and dabbled in clay sculpting. A few years ago I met Kustom culture artist Sonny DePalma. He had just received a skull he ordered from the famed Norm Grabowski. I was in awe when he pulled it from the purple Crown Royal bag he kept it in. I asked him where he got it and he told me all about Norm and how they were friends, and that it was Sonny’s fourth one. Sonny and I hit it off pretty good being fellow artists, and finally I asked him how much it would cost for Norm to make one for me? After he revealed the price range I knew it was way out of my league. I wanted an evil clown shift knob for my ’51 Suburban and since I could not afford a Norm Grabowski skull I devised a plan to create my own.
That my friends; is how it all started. This is a hobby, if I was in it for the money, the price would be out of this world.
About my skull shift knobs…
Every skull is a custom “one off ”.
Every skull is resin cast and hand carved by me.
Every skull is signed and numbered by me.
Not one will ever have a bullet shell through the top of the head in respect for Norm’s trademark.
I will never duplicate a Norm skull.
All are made with these primitive tools…fingers, hammer, files, drill press, Dremel, 4’’ grinder, buffing wheels, screwdriver, and drill.
Custom orders are available.
Prices start at $250.00 and go as high as $900.00 or more depending on how elaborate it is. |
